Biographical drama based on the life of American actress Judy Garland who has been in front of the camera since the late 1920s and by her 16th birthday has made 13 films. The pressures of early stardom have been affecting her physical and mental health since this period of time. Throughout her adulthood she is plagued by alcohol and substance use disorders, as well as financial instability. She arrives in London in the winter of 1968 to perform a series of sold-out concerts at the Talk of the Town nightclub. There Judy begins a whirlwind romance with musician Mickey Deans, her soon-to-be fifth husband. Her ex-husband Sidney Luft insists their children Lorna and Joey grow up with him. Being separated from her kids she becomes a mental wreck.
