Gabby Logan presents this special programme to mark what would have been the day of the 40th Great North Run. With the event not taking place due to the coronavirus pandemic, the programme takes a nostalgic look back at highlights through the years.Jeanette Kwakye will meet some of those that would have been running this year, including NHS staff, and we celebrate the achievements of those who have raised money for so many charities and good causes through the years.Whilst the run itself may have been cancelled in 2020, the programme will also coincide with the launch of the Virtual Great North Run, which provides an opportunity for the nearly 60,000 entrants and anyone else to run the half marathon in their local environment whilst listening to recorded sounds from the event. Andrew Cotter and his dogs, Mabel and Olive, will test it out for the programme.
